{"id":1098,"date":"2009-01-13T00:09:54","date_gmt":"2009-01-13T07:09:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gubatron.com\/blog\/?p=1098"},"modified":"2009-01-13T00:09:54","modified_gmt":"2009-01-13T07:09:54","slug":"remaining-questions-about-palms-pre-and-its-webos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gubatron.com\/blog\/remaining-questions-about-palms-pre-and-its-webos\/","title":{"rendered":"Remaining Questions about Palm&#8217;s Pre and it&#8217;s WebOS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was an impressive presentation the one Palm gave about it&#8217;s new product, but there are still many things they didn&#8217;t mention:<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/digital-lifestyles.info\/copy_images\/palm-pre-webos-lg.jpg?w=640\"\/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Battery life?<\/strong> It&#8217;s cool that it has a removable battery, but how long does it last?<\/li>\n<li><strong>What can we build on it?<\/strong> They mentioned HTML, CSS and Javascript as the tools of the trade, but if their JS interpreter doesn&#8217;t give us namespaces or global access to built in functions to access core functionality of the phone, there won&#8217;t be nothing more than a bunch of web widgets available. There was no mention whatsoever of games for this platform, maybe they&#8217;re going after the blackberry crowd and not the iPhone crowd<\/li>\n<li>How do developers distribute apps? I didn&#8217;t like the whole Sprint Exclusive crap, give us a palm-pre store!<\/li>\n<li>Flash Support?<\/li>\n<li>No demo of the camera, can it do video, no demo whatsoever of multimedia so far<\/li>\n<li>No demo of the device making a phone call<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Not sure if those are things that we should take for granted, or that the device still has a long way to go.\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It was an impressive presentation the one Palm gave about it&#8217;s new product, but there are still many things they didn&#8217;t mention: Battery life?
