Bajofondo Tango Club rankea entre lo más representativo de la música rioplatense de todos los tiempos. Productores, musicos, y cantantes… artistas de ambos campos unidos por la tradición y en un solo cometido… la experimentación acústica, con un fuerte sabor a bandoneón.
Si hay un concepto que define el trabajo de Bajofondo Tango Club es que “toma la calidez, vivacidad y humanidad del tango, pero de lo presenta furiosamente moderno. Más que trasladar clichés de un género al otro, la idea básica fue la de generar un tercer producto, a veces buscando los códigos en común, otras veces generando tensiones entre ambos mundos con cualidad casi atemporal”…
En los temas más bailables está muy bien logrado el casamiento entre el estilo house y el sonido de orquesta típica a lo D’Arienzo. Las partes que buscan experimentar con el tango canción encuentran una agradable comunión en el excelente juego entre Adriana Varela y el Polaco Goyeneche sampleado desde el fondo de los tiempos en “Mi corazón”.
La muy bella canción “Perfume”, de Jorge Drexler y Supervielle, mientras que la versión de “Naranjo en flor” (única versión de un tema ajeno en el albúm) tiene puntas muy interesantes, como la búsqueda del costado adolescente y fresco de un tema tan transitado, sonido bastante light.
Por el lado compositivo sobresalen las dos contribuciones de Supervielle “Ese cielo azul” y, especialmente “Forma”, que sin usar casi recursos tímbricos del tango son las más tangueras en sentimiento, oscuridad y melancolía.

El espectáculo de Bajo Fondo comienza antes incluso de subir a escena, pues mientras suena el pre-grabado de entrada la sala, se llena de humo, para poner al público en ambiente portuario. A continuación sube la formación al completo, compuesta por Gustavo Santaolalla (guitarra y pads), Juan Campodónico (computadora), Luciano Supervielle (computadora), Martín Ferres (bandonéon), Gabriel Casacuberta (contrabajo), Javier Casalla (violín) y Verónica Loza (videoproyección).
Mientras que se ejecuta la música, Verónica manipula las imágenes que duermen en su computadora proyectándolas en una pantalla de espaldas a los músicos: tomas de Buenos Aires, de Montevideo, de Adriana Varela (mientras reinterpretaban “Perfume” en su propia clave), o de trenes y raíles ensamblándose. Un recuerdo a los espectáculos multifuncionales de Laurie Anderson en los ’90.
Una vez llegados al ecuador del concierto, los Bajo Fondo dejan a Campodónico y Supervielle en escena para que estos ejecuten la segunda parte del programa, consistente en una sesión de baile.
